Email

Arcus by Testsigma emails your team about test activity. You choose which events trigger an email, and edit the subject line and body each one uses.

Prerequisites

  • To be added as a user in Arcus by Testsigma.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) decides which server sends your notifications. Sending from your own authenticated address keeps notifications on your domain.

To use your own server, get these from your email service provider first:

  • The SMTP server address.
  • The port number.
  • A valid username and password.
  • Any additional parameters your provider requires.
  1. In the left navigation, go to Settings > SMTP Configuration.

  2. Turn on the SMTP Configuration toggle.

  3. Select Own, then enter the Host, Port, Username, and Password.

  4. Click Save.

Email notifications are then sent from the address you configured.

You configure notifications one event at a time. Turn each event on or off as needed.

  • Test Plan Completed: a test plan completes.
  • Test Run Assigned: a test run is assigned to a user.
  • Test Run Completed: a test run’s status changes or it completes.
  • Test Case Assigned: a test case is assigned to a user.
  • Test Case Waiting on Review: a test case is submitted for review.
  • Test Case Approved: a test case is approved.
  • Test Case Rework Requested: a test case needs rework.
  • Comments Mentioned: a user is mentioned in a comment.
  • Test Run Added to Test Plan: a test run is added to a test plan.
  • Test Plan Daily Summary: a daily summary of test plan progress.

Each event has its own subject line, listed beside it on the Customise Email Notifications page. Subjects can include variables such as {{TestPlanTitle}} and {{TestRunId}}, which are filled in when the email is sent.

  1. In the left navigation, go to Settings > Notifications.

  2. Expand Notifications, then click Email. The Customise Email Notifications section opens.

  3. Hover over the event you want to change and click the edit icon.

  4. Update the HTML Content.

  5. (Optional) Click Send Test Email to check the template.

  6. Click Save.

  1. In the left navigation, open Test Plans, then create or open a test plan.

  2. In the Notifications section, enter the email addresses to notify. Separate multiple addresses with commas.

Arcus sends an email when the test plan is created or updated.
