Challenge: Test Cases Lived in Spreadsheets, and So Did the Confusion
Wello Solutions builds field service management software for manufacturing and industrial service companies: a web portal and native mobile apps that keep field technicians on the same job from different screens.
When Wello built their QA function, it started the way most first QA functions do, tests scattered across duplicated spreadsheets, with no single source of truth for what had been tested, when, or by whom.
And when a test failed, there was no direct line from that failure to the bug it caused, someone had to match a failing test case to its defect ticket manually. A manager who wanted a status update had to either ask someone directly or get edit access to the same file the whole team was already using, no way to check without the risk of changing something.
Solution: One Test management system, Jira-linked, built for handoffs
Wello moved test case management into Testsigma. Organized folders replaced file versions. When a test failed, it linked straight to the bug ticket raised for it in Jira, not a spreadsheet row someone had to remember to update. Reference screenshots meant the next person to run a test could see what "correct" looked like instead of guessing.
"Day-to-day, the main change was having one structured, centralized TMS instead of scattered spreadsheets," Sumeet said. "Organized folders, Jira-linked test cases, and reference screenshots for whoever ran a test next."
When Wello asked for role-based access, so managers could check status without edit risk, Testsigma delivered it.
Results: What One Source of Truth Actually Changed
- One source of truth instead of duplicated spreadsheets: Execution history, Jira linkage, and role-based access all live in the same place now, instead of scattered across whichever spreadsheet version happened to be current.
- Hundreds of test cases, organized and traceable: Every one linked to the Jira story it covers, not floating in a separate file. When a test failed, it linked straight to the bug ticket raised for it, instead of waiting on a file to be manually updated. sitting in a separate spreadsheet someone had to remember to update.
- Onboarding got easier: New testers had one system to learn, not someone else’s spreadsheet habits.
The CSM and support engagement was consistently proactive. Regular check-ins and real follow-through on feedback.
