# Testsigma Copilot

> What Testsigma Copilot does, where a session runs, what it needs, and which page covers each part of a session.

Testsigma Copilot runs a test case in a live session, so you record, execute, and fix steps without leaving it. Each step executes as soon as it appears, so you know it works before you write the next one.

## Capabilities

| Capability | What it does | Where it is covered |
|---|---|---|
| Record steps | Captures your actions in the live application as steps, and executes them in the session | [Record and edit steps](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/copilot/record-and-edit/) |
| In-session step management | Add, edit, delete, reorder, or bulk-update steps without restarting the session | [Record and edit steps](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/copilot/record-and-edit/) |
| Debug points and the debug toolbar | Pause at a chosen step, then resume, step over, skip, or restart | [Debug a test case](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/copilot/debug/) |
| Execute from step | Runs from a chosen step instead of the start. All prior steps are marked **Skipped** | [Launch a session](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/copilot/launch/) |
| Analyzer in the session | Diagnoses a failed step as it fails and posts the root cause and a fix in the chat | [Debug a test case](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/copilot/debug/#diagnose-a-failed-step) |
| Agentic Learning | Explores the application to turn a generated test case's manual steps into automated ones | [Agentic Learning](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/copilot/agentic-learning/) |
| Cloud sessions | Runs on a Testsigma-hosted browser or device, and reopens from its URL | [Launch a session](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/copilot/launch/#end-or-resume-a-session) |

When you change the steps, Copilot recalculates the execution flow so the run stays continuous.

## Choose where the session runs

You choose in the **Test lab** field when you launch.

| Test lab | Where the session runs | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| **Local Devices** | On your machine, or on a device connected to it, through Testsigma Terminal | [Testsigma Terminal](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/get-started/installation/testsigma-terminal/) installed, configured, and running |
| **Testsigma Lab** | On a Testsigma-hosted cloud browser or cloud device | Nothing to install. Provisioning a cloud browser usually takes 10 to 20 seconds |

Choose **Local Devices** for an application behind a VPN, on an internal network, or on localhost, or when you need your own [browser profile](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/copilot/browser-profiles/). Choose **Testsigma Lab** for a publicly reachable application, or a mobile app with no device connected.

| Session | What it consumes |
|---|---|
| Copilot on **Local Devices** | A Copilot parallel |
| Copilot on **Testsigma Lab** | A Copilot parallel and one cloud parallel, for its duration |
| Agentic Learning | An agentic session, not a Copilot parallel |

**Testsigma Lab** is enabled per account. If the option is missing from the overlay, contact Testsigma support to turn it on.

## Frequently asked questions

### What does Copilot need before it can start?

Testsigma Terminal, installed and running, for a session on **Local Devices**. When it is not running, the overlay offers **Launch Terminal**, which starts it for you on Terminal v2.2.2 and later; on older versions, start it yourself. A **Testsigma Lab** session needs nothing installed. The Terminal manages the agent, and one agent serves Copilot, remote executions, and ad-hoc runs. See [Testsigma Terminal](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/get-started/installation/testsigma-terminal/) for the requirements, the agent relationship, and the setup failures.

### Why is Testsigma Lab missing from the overlay?

Cloud sessions are enabled per account. Contact Testsigma support to turn them on.

### Where are the Terminal and agent logs?

Click **Logs** on the Testsigma Terminal home screen, which carries Terminal, agent, and execution logs separately. See [Testsigma Terminal](https://testsigma.com/docs/v2/get-started/installation/testsigma-terminal/#the-terminal-interface).
