# Terminal

> Install Testsigma Terminal and connect a device, so Agentic Learning, Copilot, and CLI test runs can execute on your own machine.

Testsigma Terminal connects your device to Testsigma, so test cases can run on it.

You need it in 2 cases: running Android mobile test cases through the CLI, and running Agentic Learning or Copilot on a local device. Cloud execution uses Testsigma Lab and needs nothing installed on your machine.

Local execution covers web, Android, and iOS. Use it when your application is not publicly accessible, when you are testing a local build, or when you are automating mobile test cases on a physical device or emulator.

## Install Terminal

1. Download Testsigma Terminal from the **Learn and Automate** dialog, and install it.

2. Open Testsigma Terminal.

3. Select **Modern** in the configuration settings.

4. Log in to Testsigma Terminal.

5. For a mobile test case, connect your device or emulator. It appears in Testsigma Terminal.

A mobile run cannot start without a connected device, so connect it before you ask Claude Code to run a test case, and before you select **Local Devices** in the **Learn and Automate** dialog. A local web run needs Terminal running but no device.

## Where Terminal is required

| Task | Cloud | Local |
|---|---|---|
| Agentic Learning or Copilot on web | Testsigma Lab, nothing installed | Terminal running |
| Agentic Learning or Copilot on Android or iOS | Testsigma Lab, nothing installed | Terminal running, device or emulator connected |
| CLI test runs on Android | Not available | Terminal running, device connected |

Terminal has to be running, not just installed, for a local session to start. Where it is not running, a prompt appears with a **Launch Terminal** button and a download link.
